Track happiness! Avoid things that make you unhappy!
We all want to be happy and successful. Problem is only, when we “hunt” too much after happiness we might succeed only in the short term. It comes at a cost to our health, relationships and paradoxically our productivity. In life everything must be about better, faster and doing more.
Getting ahead means for us doing everything that is thrown at us. We too willingly, with focus and discipline, follow what others are saying is necessary for success.
Better is, that we should avoid things that make us unhappy. For example, working with people who treat us badly. Who steal our time. Or who abuse our goodwill.
We should learn, we’ve only got one life.
The author of the book “THE HAPPINESS TRACK” Emma Seppälä focuses on six personal “strategies for attaining happiness and fulfillment [that] may, in fact, be the key to thriving professionally.” You’re familiar with the discipline of Positive Psychology? Then it’s likely that you’ll have run across these ideas before:
- Be in the moment
- Nurture your resilience
- Manage your energy
- Access your creativity
- Be good to yourself
- Be compassionate
“Decades of research have shown that happiness is not the outcome of success, but rather its precursor.” – Emma Seppälä
There is no one more pitiful than someone who has achieved all the trappings of success and is miserable nonetheless.
WHAT YOU SHOULD LEARN
Stop being other people’s means!
Don’t let other people abuse your goodwill!
When you are not with full heart involved, then better give up!
Be honest and say: “I would prefer not!” when you are asked and don’t want to be part of.
